Sewing 101: Yes You Can! NEXT Sewing 101 begins in October please contact CAZ to get your name on the list.
Jan 9 - Feb 6 2018 7-9pm
I am of the firm belief that everyone can sew! This five week course is geared towards beginners to help take the intimidation factor out of the equation and help you complete a sewing project start to finish. Everyone applying to the course should have a sewing machine at home. You are also welcome to bring your machine to class if it's portable. Our first class we will go over all the basic tools that you will need, and go over pattern details and how to shop for material. We can even schedule a fabric shopping field trip if there is interest. Once registered all details and homework will be assigned. This class will be limited to six people. I will discuss your personal project prior to the class starting. I recommend trying a pattern that scares you a little but we can talk about your choice prior to the class.
Once registered a deposit of $100 is required to hold your spot in the class. The remainder is due by January 4th.
Class 1 - Jan 9: tools, materials and machines and possible field trip fabric shopping that weekend
Class 2 - Jan 16: measuring and patterning
Class 3 - Jan 23: preparing details, sewing, adjusting,
Class 4 - Jan 30: adding details, closures, clasps, buttons, zippers
Class 5 - Feb 6: finishing, and we will recap everything.

Want to learn how to crochet?
This evening at the lodge learn the basics of crocheting, to get you started on your very own soft and warm project.
Cover photo on the Facebook page for this event is a crocheted queen size blanket, called a temperature blanket. My mom will be joining us and she created this blanket over the span of one year. The concept is that each line represents each day of 2017 and the temperature it was that day. The stitch that she used is a basic crochet stitch. It was made simply by one line at a time.
We recommend purchasing a medium weight yarn - something that inspires you. But don’t start with a yarn with a lot of texture to it, example, lumps and bumps or loose fibers, It will prevent you from seeing the loops and pass that you’re creating with your crochet hook.
On the packaging of this yarn that you have chosen there will be an image of a crochet hook and a pair of knitting needles, Purchase the recommended size crochet hook for that particular yarn.
